Bellefontaine, OH – After a devastating blaze destroyed its base lodge known as The Loft in September, workers at Ohio’s Mad River Mountain are erecting temporary structures in time for the ski season.

This season’s temporary winter lodge at Mad River Mountain will consist of two new aluminum framed buildings from Sprung Structures. They will serve as the resort’s main lodge and bar this season and will be equipped with a new state-of-the-art kitchen.

What remained of the The Loft has since been torn down, and workers were busy this week getting the temporary structures into place. They expect the two tent-like buildings to be standing by the end of the week.

The two buildings will be connected by enclosed corridors, and will include guest services ranging from food and beverage services, a retail shop, a bar, ample handicapped-accessible restrooms, a full-service kitchen and room for special events including live entertainment.

Mad River Mountain hasn’t yet released its plans for the base lodge’s permanent replacement, which is expected to be ready for the 2016-17 winter. The cause of the fire that destroyed The Loft has not been determined.
