Aspen, CO – Aspen Mountain will open for a special preview weekend this Saturday and Sunday, 12 days earlier than the scheduled opening on Thanksgiving Day. Three lifts and more than 100 acres of terrain will greet skiers and snowboarders on opening day, and they’ll upload and download on the Silver Queen Gondola to access the open terrain.
“The rumors are true,” said Rich Burkley, vice president mountain operations, Aspen Skiing Company. “Given the recent series of storms, the cold weather and the hard work of the Aspen Mountain crews it should come as no surprise that we are welcoming skiers and riders to the slopes this weekend.”
All season passes will be valid as they would be in the regular season. Daily lift tickets will cost $59 a day for adults and $39 for children, youth and seniors. Extension days for Classic, Flex, Club Escape and Mountain Collective Passholders will be priced at $29 for Adults and $19 for child, youth, seniors and college students. Sightseeing tickets will be sold for $21 adults and $10 for all others.
The Silver Queen Gondola, Ajax Express and Gentleman’s Ridge chairs will be open as will the Sundeck and Ajax Tavern. The Ski and Snowboard Schools and Four Mountain Sports will be open for business as usual.
Aspen Mountain and Snowmass will be open daily for the season on Saturday, November 21, five days before the scheduled opening. Lifts hours are from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
