Edit: Story edited to update Snowbird’s early opening
Brighton, UT – With recent snowfall, a storm in progress that’s dumped 13 inches so far, and extensive snowmaking efforts, Brighton Resort will open this Wednesday, the first Utah ski area to do so this season.
Brighton expects to offer a base averaging around 22 inches on six open runs on Wednesday, serviced by three lifts: Majestic and Explorer, perhaps joined by the Crest chairlift for top-to-bottom skiing and riding later in the day.
A terrain park with multiple features will be erected along the Majestic Main run. Lift tickets will be at a special opening day price of $40. Ticket windows will open at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
“Resorts opening early are great for the ski industry,” says Nathan Rafferty, President/CEO of Ski Utah. “It sparks excitement both locally and nationally and sets the tone for the 2015-16 season.”
Alta, Brian Head and Snowbird are currently scheduled to join Brighton on Friday, followed by Park City and Solitude on Saturday.
