Ludlow, VT – During this holiday season, Vermont’s Okemo Mountain Resort is inviting skiers and snowboarders to consider the needs of those less fortunate.
On Sunday, December 6, Okemo will host its annual Cares and Shares Food Drive. When guests donate at least five non-perishable food items, a new child’s toy or new clothing item, their generosity will be rewarded with a discounted day of skiing and riding at Okemo. Skiers and riders who make a donation will be able to purchase full-day lift access on that same day for $39.
Okemo Mountain Ambassadors will be accepting donations in the Clock Tower base area and Jackson Gore Resort Services Desk between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Volunteers from the Black River Good Neighbor Services Christmas Basket Program will help distribute the donated items to needy families in time for the holidays.
In addition to gathering donations for the Cares and Shares Food Drive, Okemo is donating 100 frozen turkeys to the Christmas Basket Program.
“This is a great way for our guests to share the holiday spirit with their winter-season community,” said Okemo Vice President and General Manager Bruce Schmidt. “And it’s a pleasure for Okemo to reward its guests for assisting local families in need this holiday season.”
