Three Lost Snowboarders Found Near Mt. Ashland

Ashland, OR – Three male snowboarders lost overnight on Mt. Ashland were found unharmed on Monday.

At 6:17 a.m. Monday, Mt. Ashland Ski Area officials received word from Jackson County Search and Rescue that three unidentified males were possibly missing after failing to return home after a day of snowboarding at the resort on Sunday. Family members had notified the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at 5:15 a.m. Monday.

Jackson County Search and Rescue arrived onsite and conducted a search using numerous vehicles and personnel, while the Mt. Ashland Ski Patrol and Josephine County Search and Rescue assisted in the search. The three individuals were located shortly after noon on Monday downhill of the bathrooms at the U.S. Forest Service campground on the south side of Mt. Ashland — the opposite side of the mountain from the ski area.

All three were reported to be in good condition, suffering only possible minor hypothermia. Jackson County Search and Rescue transported the individuals to the Mt. Ashland Ski Patrol Room for nourishment and warm beverages.
