Vail Snowboarder Found Dead

Vail, CO – The body of a 25-year-old snowboarder was found on Vail Mountain on Thursday, two days after he was reported missing.

Logan Salviano, a native of Little Falls, N.J. and an employee of the resort’s Two Elk Lodge living in nearby Avon, Colo., was last seen on Tuesday and was reported missing on Wednesday. Ski patrollers found Salviano’s body off an expert run on Vail Mountain’s front side, within sight of lifts three and four.

The Eagle County Coroner’s Office is conducting an autopsy this week to determine the cause of death, although Coroner Kara Bettis indicated that Salviano was found in a tree well. Foul play has been ruled out by investigators with the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.

Salviano’s death is believed to be the first to take place skiing or snowboarding in Colorado this winter.
