Park City, UT – Picabo Street, a former U.S. Ski Team alpine racer who won Olympic Gold in Nagano in 1998, has been charged with assault and domestic violence following an incident last month involving her father.

Street, now 44, is alleged to have pushed her 76-year-old father, Roland Street, down a flight of stairs into the basement of a Park City home on December 23, where she locked him in the basement to await authorities, charging documents indicate. Picabo Street alleges that the incident occurred after her father pulled her hair. Police indicate that her three children witnessed the fracas.

Roland Street indicated that it all started when he collided with the house while exiting the residence in his car. Cuts were observed by police on his elbow and neck.

Picabo Street has been charged with three counts of misdemeanor domestic violence in the presence of a child, and one count of misdemeanor assault. She has since bailed out of the Summit County Jail and is awaiting a February 16 court hearing.

Street won the gold medal in women’s super G at the 1998 Games in Nagano, Japan, and silver in the 1994 Games in Lillehammer, Norway.  She won the World Cup Downhill title in 1995 and was recently cited as a childhood hero by Lindsey Vonn.  She resides in Park City with her husband and children.
