Kananaskis Valley (AB), Canada – A 17-year-old male was airlifted from Alberta’s Nakiska Ski Area on Friday afternoon with serious injuries.
The young man apparently lost control and struck a tree, sustaining head injuries. He was wearing a helmet.
STARS Air Ambulance transported the victim to Foothills Hospital in Calgary, where he was being treated for what are said to be life-threatening injuries.
The incident is the second major injury thus far this season at Nakiska. Last month, a 9-year-old Alberta Alpine racer also struck a tree at the resort, sustaining head injuries. She ultimately died from her injuries.
