Oberjoch, Germany – The U.S. Ski Team’s Ted Ligety tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee in a crash while training giant slalom in Oberjoch, Germany on Wednesday.
According to U.S. Ski Team Medical Director Kyle Wilkens, Ligety, of Park City, Utah, will return home to USA for further evaluation. He is expected to be out for the rest of the season.
“We all know ski racing is a dangerous sport but I always thought I could avoid a season-ender,” Ligety posted to Facebook. “Unfortunately today I tore my ACL GS training and am heading home.”
