Brian Head, UT – Carlsbad, Calif.-based CB Richard Ellis Golf & Resort Properties has listed Brian Head Resort, southern Utah’s only remaining operating ski and snowboard resort, for sale for $34.75 million.nThe asking price for the 1,106-acre resort includes all ski operations, including eight ski lifts plus a tubing lift as well as snowmaking and all facilities, plus a dozen finished real estate lots on 13 acres. Another 1,744 acres are entitled for a master-planned community known as Alpine Creek, planned for up to 1,350 residential units, 500 acres of additional

skiing, a golf course and related recreational amenities. One hundred and fifty-six acres at the base of Giant Steps has been zoned for residential and commercial development as part of a future ski resort village.

Jim Trees, Brian Head’s primary owner since acquiring the resort in 1992, died suddenly in June 2008 of cardiac arrest while on his daily walk in Tiburton, Calif. He was 69. Trees was largely responsible for the Alpine Creek expansion entitlement and oversaw the joining of Brian Head’s two ski mountains, Giant Steps and Navajo, via two new chairlifts and a skier bridge in 2007.

The Grand Lodge, a new upscale full-service hotel and spa that opened in February at Brian Head, is not part of the sale.
