Mansfield Ski Club’s (MMSC) annual Sugar Slalom, held every year since 1940, will highlight this holiday weekend at Vermont’s Stowe Mountain Resort, complemented by a non-denominational mountaintop Sunrise Service, an Easter egg hunt, and a specially-priced two-day lift ticket.nThe Sugar Slalom, held Saturday and Sunday, is the most recognized alpine ski race event in the region. Open to U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) licensed racers ages 9 and up, this race attracts some of the best talent in the East and is a great opportunity to lower USSA points late in the season. On day two, the Sugar Slalom is open to anyone over 21 years of age wishing to be a part in the weekend’s festivities.

Originating as a celebration of the arrival of spring and the tapping of maple trees, the Sugar Slalom is held in a Mardi Gras atmosphere complete with music, barbecue on the hill, ski racing and festive costumes. To top it all, the race also features a unique Vermont treat – maple syrup on snow, donuts and pickles at the finish.
