Final Weekend of Extended Spring Skiing in Aspen

Aspen, CO – This weekend is the last call for skiing and snowboarding in Aspen for the 2009-2010 season. Seven to 13 inches of snow is predicted to fall upon the Colorado resort by Saturday morning, hopefully providing one last powder day for skiers and riders.nAspen Mountain’s Silver Queen Gondola, Ajax Express and F.I.S. lifts will be running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., accessing as much terrain as conditions permit, with the exception of The Dumps, Kristy’s and Hyrup’s. Ski patrol will be monitoring conditions throughout the weekend and may close terrain as needed.

This final weekend of the Aspen/Snowmass extended season will go out in style with live music and deals, from lodging and rentals to après specials at Ajax Tavern. From noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday DJ Naka G will spin on the Sundeck, and Slightly White will begin a live show at 2:30 p.m. at the Ajax Tavern. Then on Sunday, it’s Trenton Allan & The Good Timey Groove Gang on the Sundeck, with Slightly White taking the stage at the Ajax Tavern again beginning at 2:30 p.m.

The Sundeck will fire up the grill and will offer food and drink specials. Ajax Tavern will offer après specials from 3 to 6 p.m. including $15 for a burger and pint of beer as well as $1.50 oysters on the half shell.

Weekend lodging starts as low as $25 in Snowmass and $37.50 in Aspen based on availability and dates. Children and adult group lessons are only $75 per day and adult private lessons start at $259 for a half day. D&E Ski and Snowboard Shop, just across the street from the gondola, is also offering 50 percent off rentals as well as 50 percent off skis, boots and bindings; 50 percent off snowboards, boots and bindings; 25 percent off helmets and 50 percent off all outerwear.

All Aspen/Snowmass season passes are valid as they are during the regular season. Flex Passes are valid for one day each weekend. Additional days for Flex, Classic and Escape Passholders are $19. Adult tickets will be $39 per day, youth and seniors will pay $29 and children’s tickets will be $19. Children six and under ski for free. Current season passholders from any other resort will pay $29 for their lift ticket.
