Highmount, NY – The Triple Crown Extravaganza, consisting of a Memorial Day Weekend skiing and snowboarding Rail Jam, a Kayak Regatta and a Mountain Bike Drag Race will usher in the summer season at New York’s Belleayre Mountain Ski Center. The grand prize to the person who wins all three events is a family pack of four season passes to Belleayre for the 2010-11 skiing and snowboarding season, valued at $1,600.nThe schedule of events begins with registration at 9:00 a.m. at the Belleayre Beach for kayakers and people who are entering the Triple Crown. Competitors participating in only the Mountain Bike Drag Race and the Rail Jam will be able to register at Overlook Lodge beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The Kayak Regatta at Belleayre Beach runs from 10:00 a.m. to noon, followed by the Mountain Bike Hill Climb Drag Race from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Overlook Lodge. After the Mountain Bike Drag Race, the Rail Jam will start in front of Overlook Lodge and run from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The cost to enter all three events is $15 or competitors can enter just the event they are interested in. The Kayak Race is $8 (cost of lake entry), the Mountain Bike Hill Climb Drag Race is $5 and the Rail Jam is $10.

The Award Ceremony for all three events will happen on the Overlook Deck at 6:00 p.m. where DJ Pure will be spinning all day at the Belleayre Memorial Day Weekend BBQ. Skiers and riders who are not participating in the Triple Crown are welcome to hit the rails beginning at noon. Other prizes will be announced as sponsors are lined up for the event.

On Sunday, May 30th a Silent & Live Auction to benefit the Belleayre Music Festival will get underway at 5 p.m. at the Overlook Lodge. Items for auction include local Catskill Mountain artisan crafts, tickets to sporting events, music, recreation, travel destinations, fine dining, entertainment, clothing, and more. The event starts with complimentary wine and a cash bar. In addition to the silent auction, a live auction conducted by Belleayre superintendent Tony Lanza and Kassie DePaiva starts at 6:30 p.m. A BBQ Dinner follows the live auction at 7:30 p.m., with dancing after dinner to the music of Special Delivery and Family.

The Belleayre Music Festival has just about finished the line-up of concert dates for 2010. This eclectic Music Festival kicks off on July 3 featuring bluegrass superstars Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder. Other feature acts that have been currently confirmed include Broadway star Patti Lupone, the legendary Charlie Daniels Band, the classic 70s rock band America, the Louisiana sounds of the Aaron Neville Band featuring Charles Neville and more.
