Aspen, CO – Aspen Skiing Co. officials are reportedly watching the weather carefully to see if lift-served skiing atop Aspen Mountain over Memorial Day weekend is possible.nIn recent years, Aspen Mountain’s upper slopes have reopened for skiing in May. According to a report Tuesday in the Aspen Times newspaper, resort staffers are grooming the snow and watching the forecast, and haven’t ruled out skiing over the three-day holiday weekend.
Warm weather could quash holiday weekend ski plans, but a storm is expected to drop a few inches of new snow this week. A decision is expected to be made by next Tuesday, May 25.
If skiing is offered May 29-31, uploading to the snow and downloading will be via the Silver Queen Gondola.
