Schweitzer hosts Mountain Music Festival Saturday

Sandpoint, ID – At Schweitzer Mountain Resort there is always a certain enthusiastic energy present in the Idaho ski resort’s base village, even in summer. This Saturday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. should be no exception with live music from three different bands, barbeque, a beer garden and activities for all ages at Schweitzer’s free Mountain Music Festival.nTony Furtado will lead off the afternoon at 2 p.m. with a blend of rock, Americana, folk and pop music; followed by the bluegrass group Columbia at 4 p.m., and Head for the Hills, winners of the Yonder Mountain String Band’s 2007 Northwest String Summit Band Competition, will close the evening with a performance from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Schweitzer will set the ambiance for the day’s activities with a barbeque beginning at 11 a.m. The chairlift will be operating for scenic rides from 11 a.m. till 7 p.m. and for hiking, bicycling, disc golf, and horseshoes. Other activities, such as the climbing wall and beer garden, will also be available.

“The Mountain Music Festival is a fun way to bring family and friends together for summer activities,” said Schweitzer Events Director, Mary Weber-Quinn. “We are excited to be able to offer this free concert to the public, and combined with great food and activities, it’ll provide guests with a taste of the mountain.”
