Treble Cone’s Backcountry Big Air to battle it out for a wild card free entry into the World
Heli Challenge, an international helicopter-assisted competition combining freeride and big mountain skills set to start July 30. The first placed male skier and boarder in Wednesday’s Big Air Qualifier will win a free entry in to the World Heli Challenge, with the top ten male entrants and top three female entrants receiving wild card entries in to the Exstreamtv Style Snow Show at Lake
Hawea. All entrants gain a free ticket to the “Afterburner” party at Lake Hawea Hotel on Aug. 7.
Treble Cone has built the backcountry air in a little utilized area at the top of the Saddle Quad. With spectacular views over Glendhu Bay and Lake Wanaka, the site provides a stunning venue
for big air competitors. A large crowd of spectators and photographers are expected.
Registration takes place at Treble Cone base beginning at 8:30 a.m and the event is scheduled to
start at 11:00 a.m. Awards will take place on the mountain at 3 p.m.
