New Snowmaking, SBX Course Highlight Ski Season Improvements at Vermont’s Stratton Mountain

Stratton Mountain, VT – Snowmaking enhancements, revised guest service at the tubing park and an improved snowboardcross course highlight ski season improvements this winter at Vermont’s Stratton Mountain Resort.nNew state-of-the-art, high efficiency snow guns are being added to Stratton’s snowmaking arsenal. To push the new snow around, Stratton is replacing two front line snow cats with Prinoth BR 350s.

Last winter, Olympian Lindsey Jacobellis took an early morning ride with grooming expert Al Desroches and Parks Manager Eric Langman with suggestions for improvements to the course on the East Byrneside run. Resort officials took those into account, along with the input of 2002 Olympic gold medalist Ross Powers to create the most realistic snowboardcross experience possible. Also this summer Stratton hired two full-time park feature fabricators, who have been working around the clock welding and cutting new features and tinkering with the old.

The lift-serviced Coca Cola Tubing park, located on Big Ben in the Sunbowl will provide thrills for all ages for a second straight season. This four-lane park opened to rave reviews in 2009-10, with lanes that stretch up to 750 feet long. New customer service improvements will make the Tubing park more family friendly with a warming hut and improved facilities among the improvements.
