Former Ski Area Employee Sues Gore Mountain for Sexual Harassment

North Creek, NY – A Chestertown, N.Y. resident has filed a lawsuit New York’s Gore Mountain Ski Center management and the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA), the state agency that runs the resort, alleging sexual harassment in the workplace.nMelissa Atkinson, the Plaintiff in the litigation filed last week in U.S. District Court in Albany, alleges that the ski area declined to rehire her a winter after filing a complaint against her supervisor, David Bulmer, who was dismissed from his employment in the wake of the charges. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission investigated Atkinson’s complaint and found reasonable cause to believe that Atkinson was the victim of retaliation.

In her lawsuit, Atkinson alleges that Bulmer, Gore’s guest services manager, fondled her and made inappropriate advances and sexually suggestive comments. Bulmer resigned in November 2007 following an internal investigation. Atkinson ran the Kids Klub program at Gore Mountain from 2003 to 2008.

ORDA spokesman Jon Lundin declined to comment pending a review of the lawsuit.
