Update 11:14 a.m. MDT Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010: Squaw Valley USA officials have just advised us that the organizers of the SATELite Festival that was slated to come to Squaw Valley next week have canceled their event for this year.
Olympic Valley, CA – Squaw Valley USA is slated to host the first annual SATELite Festival at the Lake Tahoe-area ski and snowboard resort this month, from Sept. 10-12. This year’s SATELite Festival will unite adventurers, artists and consumers for film premieres, photo exhibits, cycling events, wine and dining experiences and live music.nThe weekend will host an array of activities including films and music, art and symposiums, and dinner and drinks all in support of conservation. The event is a community-based event celebrating the beauty of nature and the steps that all must take to preserve it. Participation in the festival is free, compliments of event sponsors and donors, and tickets to additional activities including dinners, concerts and symposiums will be all benefit SATELite’s 2010 cause.
“We are creating a forum to draw on the common interests of our community: adventure, athleticism, the outdoors and conservation,” said Blair Brown, SATELite’s Founder and Foundation Director. “It is really exciting to bring all of this together in a celebration of nature’s playground and the adventures that drive our mountain town.”
Though only in its first year, the SATELite Festival has already inspired a wide array of athletes, artists and sponsors on both a local and national scale. Key sponsors include Earthworks, Trout Unlimited and Why Wild.
