Alpine Canada Alpin Launches Fundraising Effort

Calgary, Canada – A fundraising campaign to deliver the resources required by Alberta and Canada’s top alpine ski racers kicks off Monday with the 15th annual “Quest for Gold” golf tournament.nThe sold-out 2010 “Quest for Gold” event at Silvertip Golf Resort hosts 150 golfers with funds raised shared between Alberta Alpine and Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA) to support Alberta Ski Team athletes during the 2011 FIS Alpine World Junior Ski Championships and national team development programs.

“This is an opportunity to gather together and celebrate the successes of the past season and applaud the contributions of our corporate partners and the individuals who provide the support our athletes need,” said ACA President Max Gartner. “It’s also an opportunity to generate excitement for the upcoming season, with ski racing in Canada entering a new Olympic cycle with new energy.”

Joining the Raymond James Alberta Ski Team will be National team alpine skiers including 2010 GMC Canadian giant slalom champion Brad Spence and Trevor White, both of Calgary, and other Alberta-based alpine and ski cross racers who will highlight the event this year.

CAST alumni Cary Mullen, founder of Vivo Resorts, is donating a five-night vacation package to a private beachfront resort in Mexico. Thomas Grandi, another CAST alumnus and now owner and operator of the Paintbox Lodge in Canmore, has teamed up with appliance maker Miele to offer a special package of Italian cooking lessons in the state-of-the-art Miele kitchen located in Grandi’s boutique hotel in downtown Canmore, Alberta.

The tournament is one of several fundraisers happening over the next few weeks and months in support of ski racing in Canada.
