Enhanced Snowmaking Tops Improvement List This Ski Season at Quebec’s Tremblant

Mont-Tremblant (QC), Canada – New snowmaking and grooming top the list of improvements for the ski and snowboard season at ahead at Quebec’s popular Tremblant Resort, located in the Laurentian Mountains northwest of Montreal.nWith over 1,000 snow guns, Tremblant’s snowmaking system is one of the most powerful in North America. Workers spent this summer replacing several snow lines in the Canadian ski resort’s Flying Mile area to improve water flow and boost snowmaking output. To groom out the additional snow, the resort has purchased a new powerful snowcat, the Prinoth Beast, the latest and biggest design in the industry. More horsepower and a wider tiller and blade allows the machine to groom more terrain more quickly each night.

The flaik system, a GPS device worn as an armband, is back this year at Tremblant Ski School. Not only does it locate users on the mountain but it also gives a review of the day with interesting statistics such as number of runs, number of lifts taken, average or maximum speed, distance traveled, and much more. The service is offered in the majority of kids program at the Ski School and rented to individuals or groups wishing to try the device.

New shops are well established in the pedestrian village in time for the winter season. Lolë@Explore, a unique concept boutique for active women offering ski wear, casual wear, and accessories, joins another brand new shop, Adrenaline Junior, the first junior boardshop in Canada. Adrenaline Junior outfits kids from 5 to 12 years old with brands such as Billabong, Burton, DC, Element, Roxy, Quiksilver, Converse, Volcom and Nike.

Tremblant’s food service department will now provide breakfast for early birds at the Chalet des Voyageurs on the south side and the Fourchette du Diable on the north side. Resort officials are striving to serve a wider variety and healthier choices in their various food outlets this winter.

Tremblant’s 2010-11 ski and snowboard season is projected to launch on Nov. 25.
