Dalbello Divorces Elan

Baar, Switzerland – Marker Völkl International and Dalbello this week confirmed that Marker Völkl will begin worldwide distribution of Dalbello ski boots on Jan. 1, 2011, ending a similar relationship with Slovenian ski maker Elan.nThe partnership will at first focus on joint distribution in several major markets, but both companies hope to eventually leverage synergies in other areas such as research and product development, marketing and promotion.

“We are very excited about our new distribution alliance with Marker Völkl,” said Alessandro Dal Bello, founder and president of the Italian ski boot maker. “We believe that in markets where they were initiated these synergies represent excellent growth opportunities for brands Dalbello, Völkl and Marker.”

“I am very pleased to have initiated this alliance. We will strengthen even further our position internationally and make our team more competitive,” added Dr. Christoph Bronder, president of Marker Völkl Group. “In Dalbello have found a committed partner, ambitious and innovative. Our cooperation has huge potential.”

In the U.S., the new deal means that Alpina Sports in West Lebanon, N.H., will handle distribution of Elan skis beginning Jan. 1. They will retain the same sales rep force that has been handling the brand under Dalbello.

Dalbello is recognized as the first independent manufacturer of ski boots in the world. Based in the Italian province of Treviso, the company has over 35 years of experience in the production of ski boots.
