Georgia Man Charged with Child Abuse After Punching 14-Year-Old Skier at Beaver Creek

Avon, CO – Road rage took to the ski slopes of Colorado last week after a 41-year-old Georgia man was charged with misdemeanor child abuse for punching a teenage girl at Beaver Creek ski resort in Avon.nAccording to the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Scott Filler of Decatur, Ga., punched the unidentified 14-year-old in the face after an incident on a beginner run. The victim, who was in a ski school class at the time, swerved to avoid colliding with another skier and instead collided with Filler’s 4-year-old son. Believing that the teen was skiing recklessly, Filler jumped atop her her and punched her in the face. The girl’s instructor intervened to prevent a further assault.

The victim was treated for minor injuries and released. Filler faces a sentence of up to two years in jail if convicted. Vail Resorts has also permanently banned Filler from all of its properties.
