I don't know for sure, but would estimate not. I think that they shut them down anytime it's freeze/thaw cycle since they don't want to have anyone in there in icy conditions (I can't imagine how long Patrol would take to get someone out of the upper parts). Secondly it might be worries about...

Just seems like an obvious line that is plenty wide and not crazy risky:

Noice.... Looks a touch less steep than Boulder's flatirons which average ~55degrees. But you sure need to be careful to not go over the skiers left edge of that one... Wonder if that is an off-piste route on the skiers left shoulder with a short hike back up to the main area.

    American Election 2024

No way virtually any of that stuff ever gets used for "doomsday" IMHO. Even if a 'doomsday' were to happen it would be so different than anyone prepping would be ready for. You can't prep for literally any and all scenarios. What you really need is a plan of extreme flexibility and actual...

    American Election 2024

I think Elon thinks of Trump primarily as a useful idiot. Bonds aren't even at 5% currently, plenty of room for future interest rate hikes if tariffs are as inflationary as they might end up. Fed is potentially in for a world of hurt. Could have sinking employment at the same time as inflation...

    Homeless/Unhoused Workers in Ski Towns

I don't know Frisco specifically (haven't read the article yet), but generally two ways that 'affordable housing' gets built in CO in general. Either a local tax added on the normal RE tax locally (has to be voted on in CO; local Gov't can't just add it), or local laws that require either % of...

    A-Basin, CO 4-6-25

I looked and his source is some combination of OpenMaps and USGS datasets. My test is the resort I currently know best (Eldora) using the vertical profile on Google Earth Pro. The data for Eldora is way off for at least the steeper terrain. He has the best runs anywhere from upper 20 degrees to...

Wait, Epic pass has Blackout dates in April??

    Winter Park Road Gap

Impossible to know as it could be many things. Anything from damage from prior jumps/hard landings, to incorrect forward pressure settings, incorrect toe height setting, ice or snow under the boot when he put them on, etc... I've seen multiple different causes of bindings releasing unexpectedly...

    A-Basin, CO 4-6-25

Probably similar enough in many ways. Less obvious lines in places until you've skied them several times. Of course there are also 5 of them vs the 2 chutes on Baldy at Alta. A bit more than half the roughly ~1400' vert is true steeps and cliffs before they mellow out (total run should be over...

    A-Basin, CO 4-6-25

Far from it of course. But I burned 4 hours in a car to get there vs thousands too. Definitely one of the least predictable conditions days I've had at the Basin though. Usually you can tell if it should be soft or refrozen or etc...

    Winter Park Road Gap

Super tragic story. So many things wrong. I only read portions of it, but the kid had his entire identity wrapped up in being/becoming a big name, big mountain skier. And he wasn't performing well enough at the Big Mtn comps so turned to, essentially desperation, to do this stunt. That part of...

    A-Basin, CO 4-6-25

Not nearly as good as expected. After a cold and snowy week that brought 18"+ to Abasin I had expected a lot of soft and fun conditions all over the mountain. Especially on a day with temps at 10F to start and only 25F at the end of the day. Instead the cold temps locked the snow up like...

    Eldora, CO 2024-2025 Season

Today was very cold for April (10F start, 21F departure). Final day of training for Jr which ended early so we pulled the plug early too (planning to head up I70 tomorrow). Mix of sunny and flurries all morning. Weird snow conditions with dust on crust type stuff in some areas and nicely soft...

    Eldora, CO 2024-2025 Season

Wow, been a while since I posted to this thread. Nothing big, but a fair bit of small new snows over the past 7 or 8 days. Looks quite warm next week though. Some wetter/denser snow March 30th for example: 1st & 2nd tracks on Moose glade for the day Salto Undercast for Eldora meant...
