Hey Folks,
Well I couldn't handle it. I saw Riverc0il and Powderfreak making some luscious powdery turns and I had to have some for myself. But being the studious ski bum that I am, I couldn't escape school or work during the day time for the next 10 days, so it turned into a night skiing mission.
I talked a buddy into going with us, and we left school after we got out of work at 9pm. It was pretty dark already. We drove to Concord, and picked my brother up, and took a stop in Plymouth on the way up. Already 1130, and the troopers were out in force. Got about 5 miles north Plymouth and we hit an errant Turkey on the high way. Bad news, I've got some feathers and blood on the front of my van. Yikes! Bunch of fools driving along the highway in the middle of the night, looking for some October snow, thinning down the Thanksgiving Turkey Population.
Anyways, got about halfway through the notch before there was any snow on the ground. Thought you guys might be making the whole storm up. Drove into the Tram Base area where there was about 10 inches on the ground and parked at the administration building at echo lake. About midnight by now.
Straped the rock skis on my back as I didn't want to use hurt my new tele set up... Heavy lifting thats for sure.
Boot packed up avalanche in the night, dragging my fellow snow addicts along with me.
Got to the top of avalanche, its 1am in the morning, and we decided that is as far as we were going to go. One thing to note is that fact that cars on the highway mysteriously slowed when they saw our headlamps on the trail.
Anyways, we got a few pictures and decended down Avalanche in the slop that we call October snow.
Fairly uneventful tour except for the fact that it was the middle of the night in october and we were skiing a foot of snow!!!
Got back to school around 4am, and got up this morning to do the whole school thing over again!
Some nighttime pictures to follow when I get the camera hooked up.
