There have been several essential lift breakdowns/malfunctions/structural issues recently. What is going on?
These are the ones I know about:
I am waiting for an issue at Telluride. They evacuated Chair 1 over Christmas (key beginner lift). Chair 10 is very old (1986) and always breaks down. Chair 7/Coonskin from town is over 50+ years old - amazing that still runs. Why invest in the mountain when having crap facilities is part of the business model.
These are the ones I know about:
- Heavenly Comet Express - Chairs collide, and five are sent to hospitals.
- Winter Park Gondola - Structural crack on lift tower. Total day-long evacuation.
- Val Thorens’ Cime Caron Tram Involved in Serious Accident, Out for 2024-25 Season. https://www.peakrankings.com/conten...ed-in-serious-accident-out-for-2024-25-season
- La Grave's Lift Out - Cable damage stops the opening of the world-famous French cable car for skiers. https://www.connexionfrance.com/new...rld-famous-french-cable-car-for-skiers/695073
- Grand Montets Cable Car - Since 2018 fire ...Maybe Dec 2026 opening? https://www.seechamonix.com/news/whats-new-this-winter-in-chamonix-montblancvalley-731416
