Good photo taking opportunities on the way home from Tahoe (via Vegas). I slept much of the way but woke up as we neared Vegas and again as we neared Crested Butte. Also got good photo's of Vegas, Denver, etc... but I won't post here unless someone really wants to see that as well.

Really nice pics. I'm always fascinated by these views.

I've never been to Breck but have heard people complain about how flat it is. I can see why in those pics.

As for me- I love the great views of Big Bear, San G, and then Baldy from the right side of the plane on descent into LAX. As well as the view of Mammoth out of the left en route to the Bay Area airports when flying from the east.

nice job picking out all the ski areas and mtn ranges.. Impressive. I thought I was good at that, but you got me beat!

Breck has a worse reputation than the reality needs to be. It's no Squaw or Snowbird, but for those that know the mtn, and both where & when to hit stuff (and just as critical, avoid stuff), it's actually got decent skiing now-a-days IMO. Though the key is that most folks don't know where to go or when.

For example you're focusing on the highly visible cut trails in the pics (which are pretty flat). Several good ridges are not at all visible though, etc... I'm looking forward to them expanding onto peak 6 in about 2 years too. Will add even more good options. The worst part of Breck has now turned into things like poor free parking options and a way overcrowded town center.

view of Mammoth

Hidden by clouds on the way in, though I got a partial view of Mono Lake.

Thanks. I'm real good at those I know well. But plenty of areas of the country that I'd have no idea what was what without consulting google earth or etc... (such as the socal areas).

When flying back from Europe into Newark, the planes always cruise right over the St. Lawrence and Hudson... you can see literally every ski area from Mont Comi in the Gaspe Peninsula to the northern NJ joints.

Always depressing after you ski in the Alps and realize how tiny our areas are... even the ones out west don't compare in breadth or vertical.
