Great day. There was about 8inches of new pow pow on top of a tough slick sheet of ice. It made for a tricky but when skied right, fun time. Check it out.

Not all helmet-cam vids are created equal, but that one was great. =D>

I didn't have the sound on, so not sure how often you hit bottom.

Nice video. You make those cliff-jumps look easy.
Though image-stabilization on the camera doesn't seem to be GoPro quality. I don't know how those guys do it so well.

Yea I know, I went for the contour roam for the price, but after using it a few times, I think I'd rather have a GoPro.

I better start saving hah.

thanks though

keep on skiing guys, don't give up on winter!!!

We didn't have a choice. Winter left us a week ago.

Musical tastes are obviously subjective, but is that powder soundtrack material?

(Sorry to be a pooper, looks like good, good times.)

A nicer version of my day at Alpine on the Monday 4 weeks before. We had to contend with thin cover as well as a frozen subsurface. Thus 3 core shots on my powder skis.

WOW, I had no i sea there was a rubric for powder soundtrack material. My take on things are if you have some powder, and you make a video with a song in the background, that song becomes powder soundtrack material. but please enlighten me with your thoughts on powder music I have never given it this much thought. to be honest that song got stuck in my head when I rode up the chair with some grom with one of these http://www.tillys.com/tillys/varian...&cagpspn=pla&gclid=CMqppt_tjK8CFQ2FhwodcGeA-w
clipped on there back pack bumping this tune. Kind of a cool gadget if you wana get rowdy on the mountain and still shred pow pow

Anyone carrying around a boom box that's playing while skiing is ample justification for anyone else to carry and use a baseball bat on said boom box or its owner.
And only 3 year olds say "pow pow".

Hey marc c, GO FUCK YOURSELF!! I love skiing and embrace anyone who has fun doing it. You bring such negativity i feel bad for you man. Have more fun and appreciate others more. the mountains in tahoe embrace having fun too, and whatever way you get down, is accepted.

please don't view my posts no more, you just aren't ready

ps

anyone who uses the word pow pow get's mad respect from me. but even if they don't, all words used in place of powder are good by me. I am just a standup nice guy.

I'm all for people enjoying the mountains in whatever form that takes. But for someone to forcefully impose their music on everyone else within earshot is beyond rude. Some people even go to the mountains expressly for the relative silence and sounds of nature. Sure, you're not going to get that at a ski area and anyone who expects to is naive, but there is a reasonable compromise point - a boombox is well beyond that point.

Pow pow is just a pet peeve, but you don't hear adults using that term for the most part.

The boom box isn't as loud as u think it would be, and I'm sure if you asked the eleven year old to turn it off he would have. Mountains are big, theres always silence available. as for pow pow, adults were the ones who shared this term with me when I was merely just a grom learning the mountain. Now that I am of adult age, I still feel we are all kids out there when skiing, and I also feel there is no better way to talk about powder than using the words pow pow. anyways, this is really stupid, so please don't reply again on this post, or any others of mine. If you really feel the need to say something else, start a new topic, id love to hear peoples reactions to you disagreement with the words pow pow. have fun being angry

The great thing about internet forums is that you don't get to decide who replies to you!

PowPow sounds dumb to me but whatever works for you. A boombox would sorta bug me, but then again, I don't feel like I own the mountain and have the right to tell someone what they can and can't do, subject to applicable laws.

Ha, ha, sorry to see all the replies center on bad vibes. Marc C is a grump, but he's dead on. That phrase is the worst one in the snow sports lexicon. But we can limit the bat to the boombox. I was next to someone here in SoCal who had one of those backpacks with the built-in speakers. Such a me-me-me product. Outside of a terrain park, I don't want to hear music blaring from ski area PAs either. That goes for a hill here (Snow Summit) blasting a classic rock channel in a section popular with the boomer set. Something about turning to "Carry on My Wayward Son." I have a better (worse) example from last week, but I forget the song.
