Alta 12/20

Arrived at the parking lot at 9:20. No problems going up the canyon.

Lapped Collins unsaid number of times. A tad bit skiied over, but definitely, definitely some really fun lines in various spots of of Collins. The last storm dropped some nice light stuff and lapping Collins was beautiful. The sun was out and there was some dusting of snow in the air.

I took a few runs up on Wildcat and skiied some rather sublime yet short lines. Really, Alta at its best (even for Dec IMO).

Took a quick lunch break at 12:30. Got to Supreme sometime around 1 pm ...(what is time when you are at Alta?)

Lapped Catherines a number of times until I nearly broke my leg in two on a exposed tree branch.....still in pain......
Skiied right under the lift a few times -- was skiing very nicely. A little chunky in some sections but nonetheless, pick and choose soft deep lines thigh high pow.

All in all, skiied from 9:30 to 4 pm. Absolutely exhausted. Hell of a day.

Had never been to Peruvian Lodge or Rustler or , so hit those spots up afterwards for a beer. The apres ski at Alta is homey, not quite the raging parties one would hope for, but, always a decent crowd.

Let's do it again tomorrow, perhaps?

Would upload photos but considering FTO's limit is 200kb..............its always an effort to get it to work from the normal 2 - 5 MB pic size.........you're not missing much other than the normal Alta powder shots.......................

Welcome to the Alta you moved to Utah for.

The pic size is now 1MB. There is also a 1024 pixel width limit, for which resizing is still necessary. It's better now because you can do a batch resize from whatever pixels your camera takes down to 1024 and the pics should be well under 1MB. Formerly you could do the batch resize to get under 1024 pixels and there might still be a few pics over 200kb to fiddle with further.

Here are a couple I took yesterday afternoon. Great skiing, if only for a few runs. We were still finding untracked on Greeley Hill at 2pm.

Diamonds in the sky at Germania Pass

There was a steady stream of down canyon traffic at noon, suggesting that many powderhounds left early. The Wildcat lot had nearly filled earlier in the morning. At Snowbird the Bypass Road was parked up beyond the heliport.

It would appear that Alta is now done with snowmaking for the season, although guns were blasting seemingly everywhere at Snowbird. Mineral Basin and the official AltaBird connection both come online today.

Maximum allowed is indeed 1 MB currently. It cannot be more than 1024px on the longest side.

I just found a really buried forum setting -- it turns out that phpBB has a setting for maximum attachment size and settings to limit each attachment type individually. Try submitting your photos now -- they should have a 2 MB limit each.
