Alta 12/25

Got up to GMD @ 10:45.

Beautiful Christmas morning, about 28 degrees outside.

Collins to Sugarloaf -- took a run underneath Sugarloaf -- surprisingly soft snow and found some nice little freshies under the lift.

Made my way over to Supreme for a lap on Catherines. Hit up what looks on the map like Snowshoe Hill off of Supreme? It was sublime.....very lightly tracked and beautiful. One of my favorite runs of the day.

Skiied some groomers and ran into the Alta Posse . Skiied High Boy until Ballroom opened up. Seeing as thought it was Xmas, Ballroom was hammered rather quickly. We did manage to drop in near Tombstone and it was quite sublime.

Ran into Admin and we took a couple runs including another lap off of Ballroom. The traverse sucked IMO but the good , deep relatively untracked lines made up for it.

Called it a day at 3pm.

Holiday crowds should pick up next few days I'm assuming. I think I've got my powder fill over the last few days. High pressure and inversion look like the forecast for possibly some time :-(

All in all, beautiful day on the hill with some nice fresh lines. Ready for the sun to start coming higher up in the sky...........

Talked to Ski Patrol and apparently this is one of the worst snowpacks in memory (avalanche factor). Will be interesting to see how it affects the rest of the season.

Actually it was Armpit/Bad News. Your photo was from our other run together, which was a North Greeley proper.

They will, but not much worse than today I'd guess. And it's remarkably easy to hide from them in places that most don't know about. Take our North Greeley run for example - we didn't see another soul from top to bottom. Not one.

It was certainly a nice day today, the sunshine on the ridges made for a magical Christmas. My son and I got up to Snowbird at noon, the hill wasn't crowded at all, the lift lines were short to non existent. I believe I saw Bobby Danger and OneoftheAmy's skiing Cham Bowl, we loaded Baldy a few chairs ahead of you. We still found plenty of good snow today, although it looks likes the prospects for the future are dimming.

Merry Christmas!

Wait a minute. I thought naming every rock, stump and tree at Alta/Bird was supposed to prevent confusion
