Woke up in Sandy to about a foot of VERY light snow, and decided I needed a little Valentines day excitement. Shoveled the walk, knowing that my good friend would be coming by later in the AM with his snowblower to tend to my driveway. Got dressed and hit the access road at about 8:30.
The drive up was amazingly a breeze, guess some people had to work  . Booted up in the parking lot and then got a call from Peter, he was running behind. Grabbed the spatulas and headed out for a run. Headed up wildcat for a run through the trees towards Westward Ho. VERY hard underneath the reported 7" (ha...more like 10" and MUCH more in spots). Worked my way to GMD through the light snow on top of hard bumps, and decided it WAS NOT a spatula day. Went and grabbed the Gotamas, when I got back to the lift I saw Marc_c, Patty, and Keith clicking in. Headed up Colling with them for an easy run down. Caught up with Peter and we all decided a trip out into the nest. Headed out the T which was in pretty good shape, and made a nice soft run down through and waited for the others. It seemed like an eternity to me, and you know there's NO FRIENDS ON A POWDER DAY, so I split...and headed back towards the Wildcat lift, who do I see???? BOB Dangerous and his buddy from NH Martin. Well well well, this was a treat..they said "we're headed back to the Keyhole for another run" I said...boom im there. Easily thigh deep SOFT FLUFF on the Keyhole run, what a way to take a run before lunch I was grinning ear to ear.
Met up with the rest of the crew at Watson for a quick bite, then back out. We went immediately to backside after lunch for a nice run down to Sugarloaf lift. On the way up Sugarloaf we noticed the congo line headed out Devils Castle, what the heck...up the shoulder for a run out the Castle...WOW...again totally worth it...I figure it was about 800-1000vert of untracked line for me...through a little chute in the cliff band...and boom...FINALLY caught up to Bob D...
One final run out the High T to High Boy and we had all had it...
All in all another GREAT day in ZION.....
Wish you could all be here too...
