Day 5

We took day 5 off from skiing. There was no new snow in the morning and we could hardly get out of bed without moans and groans. Skiing 4 days in a row in deep powder really took its toll. We spent the day soaking in a hot tub, swimming and went for a walk in a dog park with some friends and dogs. Met up with Marc C and his wife and others for dinner at a great new flat bread (gourmet pizza) called Cetebello.

Day 6 we braved the high winds and went to Alta with Marc_C. The skiing was not terrible, but compared to what it was the previous days, it was much different. Winds were gusting to 77mph on the ridges and made for some interesting conditions on the mountian. Wildcat, Sugarloaf and Sunnyside had been running. After a few runs off Wildcat we ventured over to Sunnyside only to find the Sugarloaf lift had closed. We took a couple of runs on Sunnyside and it was not as good as Wildcat. Returned to Wildcat for one more run before the lift closed for the day. It had snowed a few inches, but it was all drifted up. Drifts were dense and breakable. Not the fluff we had experienced the days before. Best skiing was on areas that had enough traffic to break it up. Moguls were sweet and soft. Conditions weren't bad, just different.

2 avalanches had slide over the road that day. We were waiting for the road to temporarily re-open so we could get out of the canyon.
