Bobbyd and myself decided we saw a window of opportunity yesterday to make a few runs using the tram at snowbird. Spotted a car at Alta, and headed back down to the bird for the 11am tram.
A few fresh inches of snow up high filled in all the suncups very nicely. First run we did a silverfox. Smooth and beautiful. Took our time. Had to de-ski 3 times (about 30 yard walks each time) and we were able to ski down to the volleyball courts. Bought our second tram ride tickets and boarded the 12 noon tram to make our bid for Baldy chutes. Heading up we saw some ominous clouds over towards park city area, so we made the hike a little faster. Not much rest at the summit, and we were ready to head down.
Main chute still has plenty of cover, and for those interested they will board you WITH SKIS until 6pm each day. This means evening after work main chutes. The chute had not been skied today so it was all for Bobbyd and myself.
Looking in from the top.
Into the first choke there is a bunch of debris from in season bombing, but nothing that can't be avoided. The turns were spectacular.
Looking back up Main.
Finished the run with a nice ski down Spring Valley. Had about a 30 yard walk at Collins mid station, and it was ski to the parking lot pretty much from there. We decided on Collins face.
All in all great skiing, and pretty much noone around.
This shot will be good once they open the summer road....boy does it look SMOOTH.
I think this was day 82 or 83 for my of "lift served" total with hikes/bc is nearing the 90 mark...dont think ill get 100 though
