Alta was really good today. After waking up to 1 inch being reported, I figured as usual they were under reporting or maybe the snow just started after 5 am. Anyway, on arriving at Alta at 9:00, there was probably about 20 cars in the wildcat lot and 5 inches of new snow on the mountain. Skiing was great, 3 runs in Ballroom good, 2 on the Baldy Shoulder which were great, 5 on the High T over to Gun-sight and Greeley which were best. Then around 1 pm, even though the sign said closed backside was open and skied, only did one over there as I wasn't all that impressed, visibility was low, snow had bit of a crust under the 8 or so of new and it just didn't ski nearly as well as the rest of the mountain. Since I didn't want to end the day on a bad note, I hiked up the wildcat cat track and skied the wildcat face which was a ton of fun. By the end of the day I would guess at mid mountain almost 9 inches of new snow fell.
Does anyone know if they will open the supreme chair and wildcat chair tomorrow as they weren't open today?
