Alta, February 21 and 22

Just figured I would start a string given Admins radio silence.

Didn't actually ski at Alta either day.

This winter -
48 straight days above normal temps.
2015 so far is about 5 degrees warmer than the next warmest year to this point.
The first 14 days of February were 17.3 degrees above normal.
This will probably be the least snowy February.

The winter of the future, here today.

Alta Collins had its least snowy January since measuring started there around 1979 and will need at least 13 inches this week to not back that up with the least snowy February.

Nonetheless, the eastern half of the US is as abnormally cold as the western half is warm. We have also seen this movie before, from November 1976 - January 1977. The Alta base recorded 13.5, 17 and 41 inches during those 3 months. The East was similar cold and snowy that time too.
 
I was lucky enough to live in the east then. Of course, I was only ten so I couldn't get out as often...
