This why I ski Alta. God I love that place! 15 inches of snow on May 24th! Bottomless Pow in the am while still storming. Two skins up to the top of Wildcat which were both blower. Then because it was so good we decided we would head up once more to the top of Collins. This skin took a bit more work as the winds started to pick up. Also we kind of got mentally crushed when we saw the old Alta Snow Cat cruise by us with a crammed cabin and 2 older men sitting on the back. Anyone know how the hell you get on that thing?

Just as we got to the top of Collins the sun started to punch through and we knew we had to hurry. We took the High high Traverse over to the first entrance just beyond Backside. Not sure of what each of those shots were called. Sun had been on the snow for about 45 min now and we could tell things were changing fast. Jeff put in one ski cut and boom, there it went. About 15 inches deep but only about 20 yards across. We were still able to link up a bunch of untracked turns once we got past the debris / slide path. Then it was onto the bottom of Greeley Bowl. We then booted up about half way and then sideslide across to the front side. There once again all untracked but things were moving. I released about a 2 foot slab that actually ran a good distance considering we were in some denser trees. That being said, once we found lines we were all comfortable with we skied smooth untracked creamy snow all the way to the tow rope. AWESOME DAY! AWESOME \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

By "Backside" I presume that you're referring to the High Notch hike. The "first entrance" beyond there would be Eddie's High Nowhere, which indeed it looks like from your pictures.

And hey, let's be careful out there, OK? We know that there's that crust layer beneath Saturday's snow, to which nothing is bonding. Add an inch of water weight on top of that today and, well...
