Alta Season Pass Price Drop to $725

I think I recall someone asking about this in another thread.
Alta drops their season pass price at the end of January. It is now $725, no restrictions. Alta's last day this season will be April 19, 2009.

A kilobuck, maybe $1100 - something like that. The AltaBird combined is $1500. Both those quotes are if purchased before the mid-Sept. cut-off date; $100 additional after that.

How much are they normally?
A lot.

I'll never understand why season passes for the Utah resorts are so much expensive than the CO resorts. The Epic Pass is a steal compared to this as you get to choose from several mountains (Vail, BC, Breck, etc) with no date restrictions.

Yep and the lovely drive down i70....and then lets talk about lift lines.... sheesh.

I do agree that the prices are high here...but shit look at places like Killington in VT the are over $1000 for unrestricted passes and its NOTHING compared to here..

For the numerous ski resorts along Colorado's Front Range there's an exponentially larger population base in the Denver metro area. As a result, some years ago some of the Front Range got into a price war in fighting for that Denver skier's dollar. Such forces have never been at work in Utah.

Have we ever found out if the CO price war was ultimately a financial boon or bust for the ski areas?

For visiting skiers the day ticket prices are way cheaper in Utah than Colorado, particularly in the SLC ski shops.
