Day 20: The life of a powder princess.

Yep, I was being one. I'll admit it. It was a gorgeous bluebird day, albeit a bit nippy, but after my last four or five days of powder bliss I was somewhat non-plussed by skiing today just because it wasn't deep. :-({|= That cold air left the snow with a case of the morning stiffies. This week's wind also did a number on easterly aspects. And of course we're still dealing with holiday week traffic, although quite frankly we never had a lift line longer than 90 seconds.

Telejon, TheOtherAmy and I seriously considered heading home after lunch. I even considered leaving before lunch to save the money. TheOtherAmy did, in fact, split right after lunch in hopes of going to an indoor bike park, but the idea of skiing through the skier's right side of Keyhole into Snowbird was enough to keep Telejon and yours truly around. It turned out to be the right call, for we finally found my beloved untracked snow.

There were only about a half dozen tracks through that route, and the snow was deep and creamy. But you had to be careful, for there were demons lurking beneath. In fact, right after that photo was taken Bobby hit a buried boulder and tumbled to a halt. After groaning in pain for a few minutes he was thankfully able to get back up under his own power and continue down very gingerly, nursing the point where his calf muscle attaches below the back of the knee. Only AmyZ soldiered on, for Telejon and I left for the day and Bobby limped home to lick his wounds.

actually now it's been a few hours it's not so much the top of the calf but more down in the middle of the muscle .
Sounds a bit like an calf injury I had at Chatter Creek in 2010. It hurt to walk for a few days, but interestingly not while skiing due to the ankle support from the ski boot.

ow it's definetly much better even with just shoes on . it doesn't hurt or any pain at all this morning , its just when you put weight on it and articulate the ankle to make a foot step i can feel the muscle stretching and contracting when the foot is unweighted .
