Day 30: Not quite together.

I felt weak and tired today, the kind of weakness that gives you the chills on a day that's not even cold. The kind of tired that prompts you to beg off powder shots with friends to go ski groomers instead. That kind of weak and tired.

There was no new snow overnight to boost my motivation level, but I went up anyway to find Marc_C, Bobby Danger, The Other Bob D, Skidog, PattiMac (visiting from Vermont for her customary two weeks), Tele Jon and once again Tele Jon's brother and nephew (visiting from California and on their last day, Day 11 for his brother). Bobby Danger, Skidog, The Other Bob D and I would eventually venture over to Snowbird and back but first we'd find the snow still quite nice, albeit a bit stiffer than yesterday, in Back Forty.

Heading into Mineral Basin at Snowbird, we spotted a group of hikers ascending a line dropping the northwest side of Sugarloaf Peak. The Other Bob D and I declined but Skidog and Bobby Danger started hoofing it along the rope line. The Other Bob and I took a cruiser and rode back up Baldy Express to snap photos. Unbeknownst to the two of them, Ski Patrol had since erected a "Closed Area" sign at the beginning of the hike and the Alta employee stationed in the Sugar Shack was waving off anyone who might be thinking about it.

There were no fewer than three patrollers waiting for the two of them at the bottom to give them a stern, yet empathetic talking to.

We headed straight for Great Scott via the Rat's Nest, finding great snow and lousy light.

From the top of Gadzoom, while the others headed up Gad II to lower Tiger Tail I cruised down to Creekside to warm up. Like I said, it was one of those days.

We returned to Alta via Mineral Basin. The two Bobs headed for Alf's for lunch while Skidog and I cruised home, bumping into PattiMac and Marc_C en route back down Collins.

Nah, I'm fine, just worn out. Thanks, though.

busted running a rebel line !! no serious talking to by the patrol but don't do that again. beautiful skiing in all of the five thousand five hundred acres of paradise . lower tiger tail has really nice cover for being so low on the mtn.

Love that picture of Bob Danger by himself.

Tried to "quote" it, but couldn't figure it out.
