Day 63: Around the World

Today's easy to recount, as it involves only 2 lift rides and 1.5 runs.

As I was driving up the Bypass Road looking for a parking spot a snowball flew across the hood of my truck like a warning shot fired across the bow. It was Bobby Danger on Whodunit, with Skidog following shortly behind. I booted up quickly and joined them at the Peruvian Chair.

We were heading for Alta. Up Peruvian, through the Tunnel and down to Mineral Basin Express. Bob and Skidog wandered left out of the tunnel to the chunky goodness of lower Chamonix I - I opted instead for the softness of the groomer.

Up on the Peruvian Ridgeline we ran into Heather, and the four of us struck out for Alta, traversing the Chamonix Chutes until we ran out of steam, then bootpacking up to Sugarloaf Pass (of course, Matt had skins that would fit my Goliaths...down in his car  ).

We clicked back into our bindings at the top of Baldy Express and glided down the Germ Return to the top of Collins at Germania Pass, pausing to admire the view and snap some pictures before heading off into the trees on the west-facing aspects between Mambo and Main Street -- smooth as a baby's ass with only the top half inch shaveable. Damned near perfect!

We traversed across almost ridiculous slide debris in Tombstone, stepped out of our skis again and hiked up to the top of the Wildcat lift, where several patrollers were busy spooling up the ropeline separating Snowbird and Alta along the ridgeline. Pausing again for a moment as the weather began to close in ahead of the next storm we then pushed off, dropping down Punch Bowl (a bit punchy -- the pun fully intended -- with its eastern exposure) and through the gate into Wildcat proper, finding delightful almost-corn on the north-facing aspects. We finished by dropping the entire length of Bridge Shot as snow began to fall, and walked through the parking lot of The View to ski the rest of the way down to the truck.

A great run! Tomorrow could be a Memorial Day powder day if the forecast holds true.

It can't almost be June. :o Nice to see you're still hitting it.. but what's this about you choosing to go down a groomer?

pow days for the Bird and Mammoth on Memorial day.. incredible..

even had 4-7" of snow in the socal mountains this past Friday. The PCT hikers are all backed up down here.

Lucky Bob in pic #3! Heather was my awesome landlady for part of one of my winters in SLC. (And she's quite the ripper)
And Mark, who are you fooling??? It IS an arid, brushy desert out there. My family is FROM that part of the country, I've been visiting since my childhood you knucklehead! Oh alright, so there's a short "green" season...I thought this was a no BS forum;-)

Yeah, she and Steve are quite the slumlords.

heather is one of the strongest female skiers you'll ever ski with any where. besides pic 3 that's just my normal charm acid christ you should come out for one of my motivational speaking classes which was suggested to me by tele john & ski dog I only teach privately & small groups for some of what is taught is for adults only. hope everything is well in ithaca with everyone . pic 13 just letting the big dogs run down through the wild cat trees. the corn snow in the pics. was very supple & forgiving just the way may skiing should be

Dangerous speaks...hmm...
Things are good in Ithaca, just got a new over/under 12gauge that I've been blasting randomly in my backyard so as to annoy my neighbors, kicks like a mule but lotsa fun. Also detonated my last "goodie" from The Canyons; that DEFUNATELY got my neighbors attention as well; louder than I remember, so loud in fact that I got in my car and vacated for 3 hours(hung it from a tree simulating an "air blast"-my FAVE)! Wasn't interested in be questioned by ANYONE...Haha...Anyway Bobby...hope things are good w/you and the gang out there as well. I know I'm off topic but who gives. Hi to Steve and Heather as well!
AC

I love the look on Bob's face while getting smooched by Heather.

What's up with that 3rd pole?
