Alta snowboarding ban lawsuit dismissed

To the surprise of few (except snowboarders with minimal legal knowledge?) the lawsuit has been dismissed.

From the Judge:
“To put it simply, Plaintiffs’ case fails because there is no law to support it... The Equal Protection Clause is not a general fairness law that allows everyone who feels discriminated against to bring an action in federal court.”

...

There are many forums Plaintiffs can resort to in an attempt to accomplish their goal of snowboarding down the Baldy Chutes at Alta, seeking an injunction from this court is not one of them.”

Full decision is available here.

Now I'm really worried about admin. If this announcement wouldn't restart FTO News, I don't know what would!

Thanks for posting. Yea, this seemed like a long shot from the get go. But, hey, this is America. Every aggrieved person seems to think they have a lawsuit against those who are allegedly doing the aggrieving. Did the judge award attorneys' fees to the defendants? I certainly hope so. That may be the only real way to throttle back some of these frivolous (IMO) lawsuits.

No, because there wasn't a judgement in the case - the judge dismissed it with prejudice.
If they want, Alta can sue in civil court for attorney's fees, damages, etc.

If you're that concerned about FTO News, I'm sure Admin would welcome volunteer writers and content management.
