Alta/Solitude video

At Alta we took a traverse out to a ridge where you could see what I think was Brighton. You could also see a dam of some sort also. A few dropped into that bowl and then were climbing back up. Could that be skied out to what I assume was Brighton? Is that where they snowcat ski?

We opted for staying on top of ridge skiing down a couple hundred ft. to where you boot packed up for about 1/2 hr and then skied back into Alta. What is that area called?

Yep. That's precisely what we did last Saturday:

Nope. That takes place in Grizzly Gulch - see the red + here:

How much vert are you getting on that ski to Brighton?

Thanks

From the topo it looks to be about ~1,400 feet, but that includes some up-and-down, although mostly down.

Looks like another dissapointing trip to Utah.... havent you heard that skiing in colorado is much better?

Also, with respect to the sunset peak/rocky point area, keep in mind Marc's emphasis on avalanche safety. I dont know if you had beacons or not Skimore, but that is backcountry area, not controlled, and its important to remember that tracks do not necessarily mean stability.
