Went up to Alta yesterday to cruise around the groomers with Ann E. Nigma. I'm very proud to say that she can now ski anything that Alta grooms, including yesterday Collins Face, Sleepy Hollow and Extrovert.
On the blues I skied at a moderate pace and she was always right behind me. This is a major step for her, and it won't be long before I'm leading her into the ungroomed. She had a blast and more than that, for the first time ever she's psyched on skiing. I think that she's starting to "get it."
The place was empty, which was a good thing as Collins was back to running at half-speed again as the girl's being cranky. I sampled a touch or two of the ungroomed myself, and found north-facing aspects to be softer than I'd expected after this round of high pressure. Hopefully tonight's and Sunday's refreshers will be dense enough to hide the base.
It was cloudy all day, but by mid-afternoon the ceiling dropped to around 10,000 feet and a rime event started that coated our goggles and prompted us to call it a day.
