Days 21-22: Getting back to normal.

This will be the short version TR format.

Saturday:
  • Noticeably quieter than the rest of the holiday period -- folks are starting to go home.
  • Grey.
  • Cold. Not by the thermometer, but because it was...
  • Really windy. Impossible to figure out where it's being deposited.
  • Light snow falling but not amounting to much.
  • Snow firm and fast.

Sunday:
  • Really quiet. Felt like a midweek day. The holidays are over.
  • Slightly warmer, much less wind.
  • Much softer base snow, and wind sift and even an inch of new snow could be found. Much better skiing.
  • Everything skied well. Easterly aspects like Johnson's Warmup and Backside were especially fun.
  • It will remain dry for the foreseeable future (i.e., for the duration of the 10-day model runs).

The holiday zoo weeks are over and the January high-pressure doldrums are here.

Johnson's Warmup? New one on me.
On a related note - was finally able to keep my foot in a ski boot for an hour+ this morning before the toe and fore-foot started to complain. On Thursday I was only able to manage about 15 minutes.

Good to hear! On the road to recovery. And Johnson's Warm-up is actually on the official trail map. It's the name for the face underneath the Wildcat chair between the top station and the Punch Bowl rope line. It is sometimes referred to just by the name Warm-up.

Oh, of course. I've always known it as simply "Warm-Up".
OMG. What if all the Alta named runs actually have a person's name attached!? There are enough as it is!
