Days 23-24: Another weekend, more pow.
I figured that I'd better get these two ski days up before the next one starts.
Surfaces on Saturday were far better than I'd expected. Skies darkened and wind accelerated ahead of the next storm. I figured that after frigid temperatures on Friday the ungroomed would be rather stiff on Saturday; I was pleasantly wrong, and we got a bit of wind sift to boot. I actually stayed until 3:30 p.m. and skied most of the afternoon by myself, which is a testament to how decent things were.
We got the first wave of this storm cycle on Sunday, and as expected it came in warm, wet and sloppy. The rain/snow line in the afternoon was near Snowbird's Blackjack Road, so there were times that it was barely snow at Alta. About six inches or so of dense cream cheese covered everything; it was easy skiing, and dense enough to keep you up off the base.
Crowds remained comfortable both days. We scored untracked on Sunday virtually all day long.
