Day 4: More of the same

I hooked up with Bobby Danger and Salida today. If Alta was quiet yesterday, today was positively deserted -- I often noted more empty chairs heading uphill than seats with people actually in them. Rather nice, actually, especially with the blazing sun and comfortable temperatures.

After a couple of high-speed cruisers down Devil's Elbow to warm up we again headed for Backside, once again finding smooth chalk to carve as the patrol bombed Main Chute and Baldy Shoulder. We also enjoyed a couple of high adventure runs, one heading out to Armpit for barely-tracked slabby-yet-enjoyable snow, and my final run of the day which was actually out High Notch. In mid-November. Without hitting anything. It was Salida's first venture up there, but as out of shape as I am if that hike didn't kill me, the death crust at the very bottom of North Rustler did.

We stood atop Greely Hill, and right as I pushed off Bobby cautioned, "Be careful...we're about to hit the rain crust down here." No more than two turns later I did. It started out barely noticeable, then became breakable. By the time we got down low there was no way in hell I was even going to leave a mark in the stuff. It was pure survival skiing down low.

We sat outside on the GMD deck for a beer, chatting it up with two Bridger Bowl employees down from Bozeman before Salida's boss and friend showed up for the day. They headed back up, Bobby headed down to Snowbird and I headed home.

I only shot a few video clips and a couple of photos today, so I assembled them into the following (very) short video. These scenes will likely show up in a full video later, but for now I thought I'd just share them.
