Day 4: Now I know what Mammoth skis like.

The winds howled last night, completely jacking the entire snow pack. Entire spots in Ballroom that were snow covered yesterday were stripped down to bare rock today. In other more fortunate locations the winds left only dense sastrugi. There were precious few places that received the wind's deposits.

Bobby Danger, Skidog, AmyZ, @OutsideHilary and I did manage to find one of those locations, however, and it was good enough that we skied it over, and over, and over again. In fact, the first time we brought Hilary out there, I felt compelled to turn around and point out, "I know that this seems counter-intuitive, but you'll have to trust us on this one."

And I honestly had a blast. We'll be back doing it all over again tomorrow. Joe Johnson found Hilary another similar stash of smooth, which we'll tear to shreds in the morning - and with any luck it'll be topped by an inch or two of new.

Yesterday just wasn't very photogenic. Today is skiing much better without the wind, and although we didn't get the 1-2" as hoped the skiff that did fall is actually rather pleasant.
