Day 11: Empty.
How empty?
I would have ordinarily been thrilled with the nearly private ski area today, but honestly I'm getting bored. I've been skiing every day for at least a few hours and groomers are getting old. AmyZ and I made an ill-advised foray into Backside before noon and while it was certainly edgeable and the line we chose was relatively smooth, the base has zero give to it. Ditto for Ballroom.
So we spent a few runs sticking to the groomers like the other folks who were there. There are only so many days in a row that you can ski Mambo, Main Street, Devil's Elbow, etc. before it starts getting monotonous, and judging by the number of skiers on the hill today I'm not the only one who feels that way. We could sure use the storm that's still forecast to come in Sunday into Monday.
Now, I know that it's still only November -- mind you, I'm not complaining -- but after skiing 11 days so far this month (and 10 days out of the past 13) it's getting a little old. I could stand to see a change in the snow surface and the accompanying change in what terrain looks attractive to ski.
So, after four runs we went home. And when we skied up to GMD to quit at 12:45 p.m. there was a whole five pair of skis in the racks outside.
