Day 5: Good to be home.
Back to the usual drive up LCC. Back to the usual 9 a.m. GMD meeting. Back to the usual Alta Java, albeit in new digs. In short, life is good.
Groomed manmade is groomed manmade, although in this morning's cold, dry air the stuff coming out of the guns was of a very high quality. The same cold, dry air made the natural terrain stiff, yet edgeable and fully supportable. We mixed it up between the groomers and the off-piste, including a run each down Harold's and Armpit. The former was surprisingly pleasant with small bumps, while the latter could have actually benefited from more traffic. Race Course involved some picking and choosing, especially when one got lower down to the Saddle, and especially trying to find a route out of there via the bottom of Lone Pine. Still, we were having fun and I managed to avoid everything I didn't want to hit.
Wildcat and Sunnyside were running, too. While Sugarloaf was spinning it wasn't loading, but we made two laps around the world down Devil's Elbow to Sunnyside and back via the Transfer Tow. Fun stuff with a ton of elbow room (pun fully intended  ). In fact, when I arrived around 9:05 there were maybe 20 non-employee vehicles in the parking lot at Wildcat.
Light to moderate snowfall was just starting as I left around 1 pm. Tomorrow may be pleasant:
That's precisely the type of event that often surprises LCC. Another two feet total will do the trick, and it looks like steady light to moderate accumulations all week.

Statement as of 10:40 AM MST on December 05, 2009
... Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 11 am MST Sunday...
The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a
Winter Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect until 11 am MST
Sunday.
This advisory is for the northern Wasatch front... Salt Lake and
Tooele valleys and southwest Wyoming.
By midday Sunday... 2 to 5 inches of snow can be expected.
Snow will continue to develop this morning and become heavy at
times during the afternoon. As colder air moves over the lake
tonight... enhanced snow totals can be expected to the southeast of
the Great Salt Lake. Snow will also intensify across southwest
Wyoming tonight as moist flow wraps around a deepening storm system.
Roadway temperatures are below freezing... supporting
accumulations on the pavement. Roads will become slick. Motorists are
urged to use a reduced speed and extra following distance. Travel
on interstates 15... 80 and 84 will be affected.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory means that snow accumulations will cause
primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads.
Use caution while driving.
That's precisely the type of event that often surprises LCC. Another two feet total will do the trick, and it looks like steady light to moderate accumulations all week.
