Day 45: A few inches of fresh

It was a gorgeous albeit chilly day today at Alta as I buzzed up for a quick one-hour break from work. I managed to squeeze in 3 runs:

1. Fred's Trees to Tower 10 traverse to Jitterbug to Corkscrew;
2. Yellow Trail to East Greeley back to Sugarloaf; and
3. Tombstone to the trees on skier's left of Main St to Schuss Gully.

About three inches of fluff topped the snow from the weekend, and it skied rather nicely. Devil's Castle has yet to open since the weekend storm, so there'll be some mighty fine deep skiing available when they finally drop the rope. Things here are looking up considerably headed into the holiday weekend.

It was deserted, absolutely empty. Two of the three lift rides were alone, and I only had one guy ski up to join me on the third.

I snapped lots of photos, and here are the highlights:

Thanks for this and all the other great reports and photos. I must say that I am more than a bit envious of your lifestyle.

Let's just say that it doesn't suck. :wink: But as discussed in numerous other threads around here, all it takes is the conscious decision to make it happen, as I did now three seasons ago. We just decided that we were moving to SLC. Six months later, with a job lined up and a place to live, we were hauling our stuff across the country...and I've never looked back since.

My new target date for the departure from Long Island of the "Penske Rental truck + car carrier, Honda Civic westbound convoy" is Mar 15th. I sure hope March will be a snowy month in the Wasatch!
